Dr. Janani Rangan is an Assistant Professor at the School of Management, Mahindra University, with a Ph.D. in Management (Economics) from IIM Ahmedabad, an M.A. in Economics from Loyola College (gold medallist) and B.A. Economics from Stella Maris College (silver medallist). Her research examines inflation expectations, macroeconomic shocks and firm behaviour under uncertainty, including work on firm inflation expectations, macroeconomic uncertainty and cash holdings, and productivity and profitability of Indian bank mergers. She was Associate Fellow at NCAER (2024–25), co‑authored the India Employment Report 2025, contributed to NCAER’s Monthly Economic Review and the NITI–NCAER States Economic Forum, and continues to develop working papers on business inflation expectations and ownership‑driven differences in cash‑holding responses to shocks.

Janani Rangan
Assistant Professor
Janani Rangan is an Assistant Professor at the School of Management. Janani holds a Ph.D. in Management, specializing in Economics, from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA).
Her doctoral research examines the impact of global and domestic economic uncertainty and shocks on firm inflation expectations and liquidity decisions. Janani has also worked on research pertaining to bank mergers, international trade and the dynamics of inflation.
She holds a master’s degree in Economics from Loyola College, Chennai, where she graduated as a gold medalist, and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Stella Maris College, Chennai, where she was awarded the silver medal for top academic performance.
