Catherine Xavier works as an Academic Associate in the School of Management at Mahindra University. George Varghese currently serves as an Associate Professor in the area of Economics and Finance at the School of Management, Mahindra University. Prior to this assignment, George served as an Assistant Professor in Economics at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar School of Economics University, Bangalore; and as a lecturer on contract at IFMR Graduate School of Business, Krea University, Andhra Pradesh. He did his Ph.D. in the broader area of Applied Economics-Finance at the Institute for Financial Management and Research. He holds a master’s degree in Applied Economics from Pondicherry Central University. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Investment Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Foreign Trade.

His research so far has mostly been in the area of Empirical Macroeconomics, Applied Economics, and Finance with a special focus on energy markets. His areas of research interest broadly include Development Economics, Open Macroeconomics, Financial Econometrics, Energy Economics, and Energy Finance among others. Dr. Keerti Pendyal completed his Ph.D. from IIM Calcutta in the area of Public Policy and Management. His research is focused on Standard Essential Patents, a specific category of patent rights used in the high-tech sectors of semiconductors, electronics, information & communication. He studies the anti-trust issues that arise out of the patents’ owners having this kind of market power and how these issues are compounded by the rights of the companies by owning the intellectual property, particularly from an Indian context. He is also interested in the banking system and its evolution, particularly with the adoption of new technologies by the system and its adaptation to these technologies as well as the resulting challenges.

Dr. Pendyal was awarded the prestigious Shastri Research Student Fellowship for doctoral students. His papers were selected for presentation at multiple prestigious international conferences. He has taught courses on the Global Political Economy; The Banking System; and Management.

Before joining IIM Calcutta for his Ph.D., Dr. Pendyal worked with top organizations like Ernst & Young and ISB. He also had an entrepreneurial stint where his clients included top B-Schools of India like FMS New Delhi and SIBM Bangalore.

Anjali Rajan has a Ph.D. in Economics from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. Her research interests are Labor Economics, Economics of Inequality and Discrimination, and Applied Macroeconomics. Her thesis titled “Essays in Structural Change in Labour Force- A View from the Standpoint of Caste, Gender and Informality” is at the intersection of Labour Economics and Economics of Inequality and Discrimination. Prof.Soumya Singh broad research areas of interest are in the consumer behavior domain such as better marketing for a better world and services marketing. More specifically, her research focuses on consumer wellbeing, prosocial consumption, service inclusion, subsistence marketplaces, and vulnerable populations. She believes that research is an ongoing journey wherein new interests and challenges connect dots with the knowledge distilled and accumulated over each passing project. She plans to apply her research experience and continue to work on these domains with openness to new connecting dots.
