Dr. Imtiaz Quadri has a doctorate in Political Science whose research studies the rise of populist politics in India, with a focus on the separate statehood movement in Telangana. He received his PhD from the Centre for Political Studies, JNU, following which he has worked as an Assistant Professor with the Delhi University, and as Assistant Editor of the Economic and Political Weekly. Besides academic publications, he presented his research at various international conferences and has written for dailies in current social and political issues. He is currently working on a proposal for an alternative approach to the study of the Deccan’s history from the perspective of contested memories of the region.

My Ph.D. thesis titled ‘Populism and the Promise of Representation,’ attempts a new approach to theorization of representative democracy in India’s states, where ideological distinction along the Left-Right spectrum does not explain political competition. Specifically, my thesis critically studies the invocations of ‘people’ and popular politics during the separate statehood movement in Telangana, 2000-2014. The return of patronage culture in Telangana calls for a re-examination of democratic claims made on behalf of “Telangana’s cultural turn.” This turn to the centrality of sentiment, emotion in political mobilisation sought to break culture’s links with the Telugu language and its dominant caste speakers and resituate it as an expression of the region’s democratic demands. Cultural resources of marginalized groups, such as dialect, songs and performances were deemed “authentic” sites of regional identity even as these were drawn in support of the political parties between 2001 and 2014. Post-separation marginalised groups are unable to reclaim these cultural resources to further their demands of political representation, as political culture is now mediated by institutions of a postcolonial state and welfare–patronage policies. The move towards a common ethical and moral standard requires overcoming the restricted logic of politics of representation.

Dr. Bharghava Rajaram is a visiting faculty at École Centrale School of Engineering, Mahindra University. Dr. Bharghava did his Ph.D. in Computing Systems Architecture from University of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. Prior to joining MU, he was an Assistant Professor (Sr.) at VIT University, Chennai. Bharghava’s research interests include Internet of Things, Computer Architecture and Embedded System Design (including Automotive Embedded Systems).

During his tenure at Mahindra University, Bharghava has been involved in DST funded and Consultancy projects. He has mentored two teams to victory at the Smart India Hackathon (2019 and 2020). He also co-founded COVINDIA, India’s first district-wise COVID tracker during the period March-June 2020. Bharghava has also handled guest lectures and industrial courses for Mahindra Institute of Quality, Mahindra Technical Academy, Daimler etc.

Aditi Nidhi possesses extensive work experience spanning over seven years in various universities in India. Her professional journey includes roles at Christ (Deemed to be) University, Bangalore and ICFAI Law School Hyderabad before joining Mahindra University. Aditi’s primary area of expertise and research lies in Environmental Law and related subjects. Her passion for these subjects is evident through her numerous paper presentations at both national and international conferences. Additionally, her commitment to academia is reflected in her ongoing research and contributions to scholarly publications, which have been featured in reputable SCOPUS and UGC-Care journals.

During her tenure, Aditi actively contributed to the academic community by serving as the Coordinator of the Centre of Excellence for Environment and Forest Laws both at ICFAI Law School, IFHE Hyderabad and School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore. She also served as Faculty Coordinator of IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell), NAAC and Strategic Planning at School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) – in this capacity planned and conducted internal evaluations of law school’s pedagogy and programs, which led to a successful national accreditation.

I am currently working on development of fiber-reinforced, geopolymer and 3D printable concrete mixes looking at both fresh and hardened properties. I have been a reviewer to journals like additive manufacturing, Advances in Concrete Construction, International journal of cleaner materials and International journal of computational methods.

I have published journal papers in top quartile mechanics journals. My prior experience in the development of 3D printed polymeric composites helps me understand the behavior of 3D printed concrete. My previous research experiences during my masters and Ph.D. are summarized below.

Ph.D. Thesis:

Title Compliance-Tailored Multilayers: Theory, Computation, 3D Printing and Testing Supervisors Dr. Kumar Shanmugam, Associate Prof., Dept. of Mech. and Mat. Engg., Khalifa University of Sci. & Tech. , Abu Dhabi, U. A. E Description Mitigation of stress concentrations in multilayered materials and structures, particularly at free-edges, represents a significant opportunity for performance enhancement of such systems. Undesirable edge effects can be mitigated by appropriately spatially tuning the material properties. The emergence of additive manufacturing (AM) technologies, especially multi-material 3D printing, offers the possibility of cost-effective automation of the fabrication process and provides greater flexibility for locally tailoring the material architecture in three-dimensions across scales. This study is therefore focused on theoretical and computational modeling, additive manufacturing and experimental evaluation of compliance-tailored multilayers.

Masters Thesis:

Title Polynomial chaos characterized eigenvalue problem for large sparse systems Supervisors Dr. Debraj Ghosh, Associate Prof., Dept. of Civil Engineering, IISc Bangalore Description The Randomness in the properties (like Stiffness) of structural systems was modelled using chaos theory. This Stochastic finite element model was implemented using C++ as a platform using open source libraries like LAPACK and BLAS. The accuracy of results were tested against the classical Mote-Carlo algorithm and found to be in close proximity while the computation time needed was only a fraction of that needed for classical Monte-Carlo.

Dr. Amit Kumar Jha always believed in the importance of good teaching. Students are the intellectual lifeline of any institution and it’s our duty as stewards of higher education to enable students to succeed regardless of the career path they choose. To this end, he believed that good teaching and research are complementary in two ways. First, success in both areas requires clear thinking, collaboration, and the ability to simplify complicated concepts. Second, in terms of growth as an academic, teaching provides an opportunity to learn from students and give back to the community. He firmly believes in the importance of teaching to ability and his philosophy in teaching is that no student should be left behind. His goal is to help students think independently, analytically, and creatively about how to solve specific problems and engage with central questions in modern society. These skills will be crucial for students to succeed in their classes and beyond, regardless of their career path.

Dr. Abburi’s research interests include the fabrication and study of functional materials at nanoscales engineered for sensor-based applications. Currently, his research interest is focused on bulk manufacture of nanomaterials from by-products of fertilizer industry.

His doctoral research was on the fabrication of nanoporous metals using a method of dealloying and coarsening and the study of using nanoporous platinum thin films as hydrogen sensors. His primary during his MS was on the feasibility of using non-conducting and semiconducting polymer nanowires as aqueous chemical sensors.

Dr. Abburi’s interests include fabrication of quasi-one-dimensional nanostructures such as nanotubes, nanobelts, nanoporous thin films or nanoribbons. These are extremely useful to a number of engineering applications for their high surface-to volume ratio. These types of materials are therefore applied to variety of adsorption-based gas sensing. These materials can be synthesized by thermal/ plasma techniques as well as low cost solution-based techniques.

Dr. Nisha Mathew is a historian and social scientist whose research focuses on the illicit economies of gold smuggling, money laundering and counterfeiting in the post-imperial Indian Ocean region. She received her Ph.D. in History from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in 2014, following which she worked as a Research Fellow with the Asia Research Institute and Middle East Institute, National University of Singapore. Besides academic publications, she has also authored articles in The Straits Times, South China Morning Post and The Wire. She is currently co-editing a volume on Cities in the Third World and is also working on an article exploring the impact of transnational crime on sovereign governments and critical infrastructures.     Her research interests include reflective thinking and professional development, teacher training/education, teacher/learner beliefs and classroom-based research.

    At Mahindra University, Ms. Mythili is currently working at the department of Humanities and Social Sciences, ECSoE, and has undertaken work related to starting of Ph.D. program as founding faculty at Indira-Mahindra School of Education that required selection of candidates, designing the courses and curriculum, and mentoring other faculty.
    She also coordinated with the marketing department for selecting the candidates for Ph.D. programme. She was also engaged recently in matters relating to academic administration at IMSE as its acting head under the able guidance and support of eminent academicians in the university. Her academic activities were related to formulation of courses for Ph.D. program course work, teaching the course on Teacher Education and School Education for Ph.D. scholars, working closely with the librarian to set up library for Education department, and working with commercial department for identifying statistical soft wares such as SPSS and N Vivo.

    Before joining Mahindra University, she was deeply involved in policy research, teaching, large scale implementation and training of School Leadership Development Programs (SLDP) through Ministry of Education, India. At National Centre for School Leadership (NCSL), she held responsibilities as the national coordinator for many states such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Goa, Kerala, and Manipur to develop and

    Ms.Mythili is a member of the National Resource Group for NISHTHA program launched by Ministry of Education in collaboration with several national level organizations, such as NCERT, Kendriya Vidayala Sanghathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti and NIEPA for programs related to capacity development of school heads in India. Her work titled “Pedagogical Leadership: A handbook for Leading learning in Schools” is being used and implemented by all schools affiliated to CBSE in India and Abroad. She continues to be the key person to conduct workshops on Pedagogical leadership even after joining Mahindra University.

    UNESCO HQ, Paris identified her as expert in the area of School Leadership to review the India-country Profile for its Global Education Report, 2024, whose theme is Leadership in Education. She was further invited to contribute to developing the “India-County Profile” for the Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report, 2024. The theme of the GEM 2024 was “Leadership in Education”.

    She also has participated in the Education Leadership Seminar 2024 at the International Institute of Educational Planning (IIEP)- UNESCO from 22-26 April 2024 (only one to represent India) to study the Policy-practice gap identification and how to address this gap during the implementation of programmes in our respective country contexts.

    The work on Pedagogical leadership and Annual Pedagogical Plan saw multiple applications and policy relevance in Indian context by the Government of India:
    She is included as a component for School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework (SQAAF) by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi through a Government of India’s Gazette notification.

    She is also a member in the expert committee for MA in Education leadership and management and PG Diploma in School Leadership and Management with Dr. Ambedkar Open University, Telangana to design and develop curriculum for the two courses and also develop modules.

    She was nominated as the convener of the working group on reforming the School Leadership in Telangana State with the Education Commission of Telangana State from February 2025 to date. Submitted the report and policy on School Leadership Development in May 2025.

    She further worked with the Directorate of Educational Research and Training, Meghalaya, on writing a position paper on School Leadership and Governance based on the National Education Policy 2020.

    She was also nominated as a mentor for the National Mentoring Mission, NCTE, New Delhi.

    Ms.Mythili completed her Ph.D. from the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bengaluru, Karnataka in 2006. She has worked at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, Azim Premji Foundation, Bengaluru, and Centre for Multi-Disciplinary Development Research, Dharwad, Karnataka. She also worked as a trained graduate teacher for 6 years in the beginning of her career.

    Dr. Mallepalli is currently a Professor at the School of Law, Mahindra University. She holds a Ph.D. from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. Her doctoral research was in the field of International Trade Law, India and the Dispute Settlement System under WTO. Her Post-Graduation is in Law with specialization in Corporate Laws and Post-Graduate diplomas in Alternate Dispute Resolution and Business Management with (Marketing and Advertising as major). She is also an Associate member of Company Secretaries of India (ACS) ICSI. Has published research articles in various journals. She started her career as a practicing lawyer.

    She was associated with School of Law, Bennett University. At NALSAR, she has taught various subjects to the law students and management graduates and has conducted sessions for the IRS officers at National Academy of Direct Taxes. She worked as Manager-Litigation at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Bangalore. She taught business laws and other interdisciplinary subjects to the post graduate management students at Alliance University, Bangalore.

Her varied educational qualifications and experience has contributed to a unique way of interdisciplinary teaching. Adept in handling interdisciplinary subjects like cyberlaws, international trade laws and corporate laws. She was designated as the subject expert for few courses; and was Area Coordinator for Corporate Governance at NALSAR. She had been part of various committees and in administrative roles throughout her teaching tenure.
