Dr. Sayantan Hazra is presently working as an Associate Professor at École Centrale School of Engineering, Mahindra University, Hyderabad.
Dr. Sayantan Hazra was invited to work in CentraleSupélec, IETR Lab in Rennes, France, as a Guest-Faculty (Professeur-Invité) in April–July 2022. The travel and accommodation of the visit were sponsored jointly by Mahindra University and CentraleSupélec.
His research interests are mainly in several areas of wireless communication systems, including interference management and RF security for massive IoT in 5G ultra-dense cellular networks, resource-optimized interleaving-coding-modulation schemes in cellular broadcasting and multimedia broadcasting standards (DVB-NGH, DVB-SH, ATSC 3.0) with 4G and 5G class signals; wireless channel modelling and signal processing in multi-carrier communication systems like 4G and 5G cellular systems. He is also involved in cross-domain research, like cost-effective and reliable communication networks for smart grid framework.
Dr. Hazra is a senior member of IEEE and IEEE Communications Society, and a member of the IET and the Institute of Engineers.

Laboratory set-up developed:
- Communication Systems Laboratory: offered in connection with the course “Communication Theory and Systems”; Experiments involved utilization of the “Sub-6 GHz 4G & 5G testbed (5-Nines)” and the “Universal Wireless Protocol Testbed (UWT)”.
- Universal Wireless Protocol Testbed (UWT): A wireless protocol testbed to test any existing wireless standard or protocol, e.g., WLAN (IEEE 802.11 series), Bluetooth, sub-6 GHz cellular, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, and any new protocol designed for the range of carrier frequencies – 70 MHz to 6 GHz. Key components: NI and Ettus USRPs (universal software defined radio), spectrum analyzer, computers with software tools like GNU Radio, NI LabVIEW.
Achievements:
- Invited as Guest-Faculty (Professeur-Invité) in CentraleSupelec, Rennes, France; received full funding for transport and accommodation expenses.
- Chaired a technical presentation session in the IEEE International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Computing, Networking and Communications (WiMob), Barcelona, 2019
