Dr. Prahallada is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Mahindra University. He has obtained his Ph.D. along with M.Sc. (Engg.) from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IISc, Bangalore, under the guidance of Prof. Raghuraman N Govardhan. His Ph.D. work deals with flutter of turbomachine blades in a linear cascade at both subsonic as well as transonic speeds. He has designed and developed a transonic cascade wind tunnel as part of this. Immediately after his Ph.D., he worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the Center of Excellence in Hypersonics, IISc, for three years. During this tenure, he was involved in experimental investigation of several fluid mechanical problems in supersonic and hypersonic flows. Prior to joining Mahindra University, he was a Principal Project Scientist and earlier a National postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Applied Mechanics, IITM, where he worked on understanding mixing behavior and aerosol deposition in the alveolar ducts of the deep lung. His research interests are in the broad areas of high-speed flows, turbomachinery aerodynamics, fluid-structure interaction, and pulmonary fluid dynamics.
