Position Summary

The School of Digital Media and Communication (SDMC) at Mahindra University has pioneered the academics of computational media in India. Its flagship programme, the Bachelor of Technology in Computation and Media, is the first of its kind in the country and integrates digital and computational technology, humanities, social sciences, and media studies to nurture storytellers in digital and AI media environments. Some of the strands that our current students pursue are game design, immersive storytelling, instructional design, VFX, and computational creativity.

SDMC now invites applications for a faculty position in this highly specialized area of Computational Media from candidates with strong interdisciplinary expertise in technology and the humanities. The faculty member will contribute to teaching, research, curriculum development, and academic leadership in a programme that integrates computing, communication, design, storytelling, and emerging digital technologies. Profile

The ideal faculty member combines the analytical rigour of a computer scientist with the creativity of a designer and the curiosity of a researcher. They should be capable of mentoring students who aspire to become UX designers, computational media researchers, creative technologists, game developers, visualization specialists, digital storytellers, AI-enabled media innovators, and entrepreneurs. The role aligns with Mahindra University’s emphasis on integrating computing, media production, human-centred design, immersive technologies, and continuous project-based learning within its B.Tech. in Computation & Media programme. Key Responsibilities

Teaching

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computational media and related disciplines.
  • Design studio- and project-based learning experiences integrating theory with hands-on implementation.
  • Supervise laboratory work involving programming, interactive media, visualization, game development, and immersive technologies.
  • Mentor multidisciplinary student projects involving computing, communication, design, AI, and media production.
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation aligned with emerging technologies and industry practices.
  • Participate in continuous assessment through projects, presentations, demonstrations, design critiques, portfolios, and applied research.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD from a top university in Computational Media, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline. Post-candidacy PhD scholars, as well as those with a firm intent to pursue PhD, may be considered.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research commensurate with level. (0-5 years acceptable for Assistant Professor.)
  • Demonstrated trajectory of publications, projects, and other forms of evidence relevant to the intersection of computational science and digital media studies.
  • Ability to connect disciplinary boundaries through application- and project-based experiential learning methods.
  • Ability to bring industry networks for classroom and institutional collaborations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication in English.

        Essential Qualifications

                Faculty Position

                The Bajaj Engineering Skill Training (BEST) Centre at Mahindra University, established in partnership with Bajaj Auto Ltd., is a specialized facility on the Hyderabad campus focused on Industry 4.0, Industrial Internet of Things, and firmware development.

                The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Mahindra University invites applications from well-organized and skilled faculty in the areas of Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, IoT, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Cyber-Physical Systems. The selected candidates will contribute to teaching and administrative activities at the Bajaj Engineering Skill Training (BEST) Centre.

                Faculty Position 1: – Industrial Automation and IoT

                Required qualifications:

                • Masters/PhD in Electrical/ Electronics/Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineering.
                • Experience in dealing with Hydraulic, Pneumatics, CNC machines and PLCs.

                • Teach courses related to the Advanced Manufacturing and IoT division of the Centre.
                • Design, conduct, and upgrade laboratory experiments for courses offered by the Centre.
                • Oversee the effective operation, maintenance, and safety of equipment in laboratories associated with the Advanced Manufacturing and IoT division.
                • Evaluate students’ performance in both theory and laboratory courses.
                • Supervise undergraduate student projects.
                • Ensure optimal utilization of laboratory infrastructure.

                The candidate should possess a strong academic background in the relevant engineering discipline, along with excellent teaching and communication skills. Hands-on experience in laboratory handling and the ability to train students in industrial technologies are essential.

                  Mahindra University is actively looking for experienced faculties in the areas of Robotics, Mechatronics and Industrial Automation.

                  The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is active in the key areas of Design, Manufacturing, Robotics and Thermal Engineering with significant research programs and facilities. The department runs three undergraduate programs i.e., B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Aerospace Engineering, M.Tech. program in Robotics, Systems Engineering and Computational Mechanics along with the Ph.D. program in all the areas.

                  Job Description: Will be involved in teaching and conducting advanced research in the following areas.

                  • Robotics
                  • Mechatronics: Mechatronics and Control Systems
                  • Biomedical Instrumentation, Medical Robotics, Man-Machine Interaction
                  • MEMS Sensors & Integration: MEMS, Sensors and Integration, experience in the development of MEMS or other kinds of Sensors will be an added advantage
                  • Actuators and Drives: Power Electronics, Actuators and Sensors, Robot Locomotion, development of one of the actuator areas like soft actuators, biomimetic actuators, mechanical actuators

                  Preferred Experience

                  • Proven skills of high-quality teaching, demonstrated excellence in research and teaching in Robotics/Mechatronics/Automation.
                  • Experience in research collaboration with other universities and industries will be definite advantage.
                  • Industry experience in lieu of experience in academia will be considered.

                  Qualification

                  • PhD in Robotics/Mechatronics/Industrial Automation for respective faculty positions with background in Mechanical/Electronics Ph.D. (preferably from IITs, IISc or from reputed institutions/universities abroad).
                  • A solid research record evidenced by high quality publications in high-impact journals.
                  • Strong commitment to teaching and guiding students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
