Job Description – Junior Research Fellow (JRF), Research Area: Corrosion of Reinforcement in Concrete Structures

Job Profile:

The JRF will work on experimental and analytical investigations related to corrosion of steel reinforcement in concrete structures, with a focus on understanding corrosion mechanisms, monitoring, and assessment of corrosion-induced deterioration. The work will involve laboratory experimentation, electrochemical measurements, data analysis, and interpretation of corrosion behaviour.

Eligibility:

Candidates with a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or a related discipline are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a strong academic/research background in corrosion science and electrochemistry will be preferred.

Desirable Skills:

  • Sound understanding of electrochemical principles of corrosion
  • Knowledge of corrosion of steel/reinforcement in concrete
  • Experience with electrochemical techniques such as half-cell potential, corrosion rate measurements, polarization techniques, or EIS is desirable
  • Laboratory experimentation, data analysis and scientific reporting
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills

Job Description : Postdoctoral Fellow – Structural Health Monitoring using Piezoelectric Sensors

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy PZT-based sensing systems for damage detection and structural health monitoring.
  • Conduct experimental investigations on structural components.
  • Develop signal processing, data analysis and intelligent damage-detection techniques.
  • Work on interdisciplinary research integrating sensors, electronics, materials and structural engineering.
  • Publish research findings in high-quality journals/conferences and contribute to collaborative research proposals.

Eligibility & Preferred Background:

  • PhD in Sensors, Structural Health Monitoring, Smart Structures, Civil/Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or closely related areas.
  • Candidates with strong expertise in piezoelectric sensors, sensor networks, signal processing, EMI techniques, vibration-based monitoring or damage detection are preferred.
  • Experience in experimental research and data analysis will be an advantage.

Interested candidates can submit their CV to deepthi.ma@mahindrauniversity@edu.in.
