Professor M. Krishnamurthy is the Centre Director and Senior Professor (I) at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Hyderabad. He is a distinguished physicist specialising in laser-plasma physics and atomic, molecular and optical sciences, with research interests spanning intense laser-matter interactions, cluster dynamics, and the generation of high-energy electron and ion beams. He earned his Ph.D. from TIFR, Mumbai, and undertook postdoctoral research at JILA, Colorado, USA.
His contributions in experimental plasma physics have earned him significant recognition, including the Kaw Legacy Award in 2023. He is also a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA).
