Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. programmes must hold a Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Science, Humanities, or Social Sciences, with a minimum CGPA of 6.00 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in aggregate. Alternatively, full-time students without an M.Tech. or equivalent degree but with a B.Tech. or equivalent degree must have a minimum CGPA of 7.00 on a 10-point scale or 70% aggregate marks. Such candidates are required to provide a valid GATE score or have qualified in the UGC/CSIR/DBT/INSPIRE Fellowship Examination for Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences disciplines.

However, graduates from Centrally Funded Technical Institutes with a B.Tech./B.E./Integrated M.Sc. (or any other programme of at least four years duration, admission to which was based on JEE) and a CGPA of 8.00 or above at the time of graduation may be exempt from the GATE/National examination requirement for admission to Ph.D. programmes. Similarly, M.Sc. graduates from IITs with a CGPA of 8.00 or above may also be exempt from the GATE/National Examination requirement.
