Dr. Debaleena Guha specializes in Francophone literature and interdisciplinary humanities research with a focus on gender, identity, disability, and performance studies. She has published scholarly articles in French-language academic journals and edited volumes, as well as creative writing in literary journals. Her research examines fluid identities, performative bodies, and feminist reinterpretations in Francophone texts. At Mahindra University, she teaches French and mentors the Birdwatching and Photography Club.

Debaleena Guha

Assistant Professor

Dr. Debaleena Guha is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Mahindra University. She earned her PhD in Francophone Literature from The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) in 2020 and holds academic training in German, English, and Bengali studies. Prior to joining Mahindra University in 2024, she worked with Straive Publishing Company and later served at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). Her academic interests span French and Francophone literature, gender studies, performance studies, disability studies, and intersectionality. Her published research explores themes of identity, femininity, performativity, and resistance in Francophone literary works, particularly focusing on writers such as Ananda Devi and Anne-Marie Alonzo. Alongside teaching, she is also involved in mentoring extracurricular student activities related to birdwatching and photography.
