George Varghese currently serves as an Associate Professor in the area of Economics and Finance at the School of Management, Mahindra University. Prior to this assignment, George served as an Assistant Professor in Economics at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar School of Economics University, Bangalore; and as a lecturer on contract at IFMR Graduate School of Business, Krea University, Andhra Pradesh. He did his Ph.D. in the broader area of Applied Economics-Finance at the Institute for Financial Management and Research. He holds a master’s degree in Applied Economics from Pondicherry Central University. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Investment Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Foreign Trade.

His research so far has mostly been in the area of Empirical Macroeconomics, Applied Economics, and Finance with a special focus on energy markets. His areas of research interest broadly include Development Economics, Open Macroeconomics, Financial Econometrics, Energy Economics, and Energy Finance among others. George has to his credit several publications in internationally reputed journals such as, Applied Economics Letters, Journal of Economic Research, Journal of Public Affairs, Journal of Emerging Market Finance, and Research in Finance.

Prior to joining the School of Management, Mahindra University, George has taught courses such as Financial Time Series Analysis, Indian Financial System, Public Economics I, Public Economics II, Microeconomics I, and Microeconomics II to students both at Post-Graduate as well as Under-Graduate levels.

Dr. Keerti Pendyal completed his Ph.D. from IIM Calcutta in the area of Public Policy and Management. His research is focused on Standard Essential Patents, a specific category of patent rights used in the high-tech sectors of semiconductors, electronics, information & communication. He studies the anti-trust issues that arise out of the patents’ owners having this kind of market power and how these issues are compounded by the rights of the companies by owning the intellectual property, particularly from an Indian context. He is also interested in the banking system and its evolution, particularly with the adoption of new technologies by the system and its adaptation to these technologies as well as the resulting challenges.

Dr. Pendyal was awarded the prestigious Shastri Research Student Fellowship for doctoral students. His papers were selected for presentation at multiple prestigious international conferences. He has taught courses on the Global Political Economy; The Banking System; and Management.

Before joining IIM Calcutta for his Ph.D., Dr. Pendyal worked with top organizations like Ernst & Young and ISB. He also had an entrepreneurial stint where his clients included top B-Schools of India like FMS New Delhi and SIBM Bangalore.

As a student, he has secured top positions in all-India competitive exams including CAT 2004 (with a score of 100 percentile in 2 out of the 3 sections), ICWAI Foundation (Rank 2), ICWAI Intermediate (Rank 8), and IIT-JEE (Rank 29). Prashant Kumar Gupta holds a Ph.D. in finance from IIT Delhi (2022) and has pursued his MBA from BIT Mesra. Professionally, he was associated with ISB, Hyderabad, in the capacity of an academic associate (2017). He also headed the academic team at PIBM Pune, ranked amongst the top-10 upcoming B-Schools in India by Forbes (2016).

Anjali Rajan has a Ph.D. in Economics from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. Her research interests are Labor Economics, Economics of Inequality and Discrimination, and Applied Macroeconomics. Her thesis titled “Essays in Structural Change in Labour Force- A View from the Standpoint of Caste, Gender and Informality” is at the intersection of Labour Economics and Economics of Inequality and Discrimination. Her thesis work is focused on understanding the dynamics of labour market changes from the perspective of three axes of inequalities – gender, social groups (caste), and quality of employment (formal and informal employment). Dr. Mukesh Narmetta is an Assistant Professor in the Management Information Systems area at Mahindra University, School of Management (SoM). His focus of research work is to understand the impact of technology on society in general and business organizations in particular through a socio-technical perspective.

Before joining School of Management, Mahindra University, Mukesh worked with Tata Consultancy Services as a developer, production support executive, scrum master and business analyst.

Besides academia, Dr. Mukesh takes an interest in painting and photography. He is a numismatist too.
