Project Funding: IHub-Data, IIIT-Hyderabad (Established under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems scheme of Department of Science & Technology, Government of India).

About Us: Centre for Life Sciences at Mahindra University has major focus on translational research in the area of AI in Healthcare & Computational Biology. The centre is also active in advanced experimental research with groups working in the area of bio-based products/platforms development and discovery, discovery of novel biomarkers and development of efficient biosensors.

Position Overview: You would work on a project problem with significant impact on public health. As a member of project team, you will contribute to AI model development, validation and creation of a user-friendly web/smartphone application for real-life testing and further validation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data collection, development and validation of AI models using Retinal Fundus Images (TensorFlow/PyTorch)
  • Visiting collaborating hospitals in Hyderabad for data collection.
  • Development of web/smartphone application (Flask/ React Native/Flutter)

Qualifications:

BS/B.Tech/BS-MS (Dual Degree) or M.Tech having qualified CSIR-NET/GATE or selection process through national level examinations conducted by DST/DBT/DAE/DOS/DRDO/MoE/ICAR/ICMR/IIT/IISc/IISER/NISER etc. with 2-years post qualification experience.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in AI (deep learning/neural networks) and machine learning, preferably in healthcare domain.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, and familiarity with AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch etc.).
  • Experience in developing applications for web and/or smartphone integrating TensorFlow Lite/js.

        Research Associate Position in ICSSR-sponsored Project

        Research Associate Position in ICSSR-sponsored Project

        Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate (RA) in a project sponsored by the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR) under the Major Research Project Scheme entitled “Yadadri: A Devotional Capital, Diasporic Networks and a 21st Century Telugu Identity in the Making” (File No. 02/16/2022-23/RP/MJ) sanctioned to Dr. Nisha Mathew at Mahindra University. The project is a study of the intersections of global capital, diasporic networks and religion in Hyderabad’s urban growth, concurrently as an IT hub and a devotional capital for the 21st century.

        Eligibility: 

        A Masters’ degree in History, Anthropology, English Literature, Mass Communication, Cultural Studies, or any of the Social Science disciplines, with some experience in archival and ethnographic research.  The candidate must have excellent communication, writing and translation skills in English and Telugu. S/he must be willing to travel within South India to conduct fieldwork and archival research.

        Fellowship:

          Research Associate (Postdoc) Position in SERB sponsored Project

          Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate (RA) in a project sponsored by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) under the Core Research Group (CRG) scheme entitled “Dynamic fracture at a non-planar interface” (File No. CRG/2022/004550) sanctioned to Prof. Ranjith Kunnath at Mahindra University. The project involves developing mathematical formulations for dynamic fracture problems and their numerical implementation.

          Eligibility: 

          Ph.D. in Mathematics/Physics/Engineering with specialization in mathematical modeling/solid mechanics and numerical methods

          Fellowship: Upto Rs. 63,000 + 24 % HRA per month, depending on qualification and experience

                Description Project:

                Development of an Autonomous Aerial Robotic System for Harvesting (AARSHa) Coconuts. The project involves development of a multirotor (DRONE) based robotic system for harvesting. A multirotor need to be developed with necessary attachments to solve the needs of the agriculture and entire system has to tested in laboratory and real farms.

                Number of Positions: 02

                Duration of the project: 18 months.

                  Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – Aerospace Propulsion

                  Applications are invited for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position in the Mechanical and Aerospace Eng. department of Mahindra University for a project sponsored by the Aeronautics Research and Development Board (AR&DB), DRDO.

                  Project title: Design Optimization of Turbine Nozzle Guide Vane Three-Dimensional Airfoils

                  Description of the work: You will have to carry out CFD simulations for different designs of a turbine stage (of an aircraft engine) with commercial CFD software such as ANSYS CFX. To this end, you will have to perform 3D CAD design of the turbine blades, grid generation, CFD simulations and post-processing of the results. The CFD results would be used for obtaining an optimal turbine stator vane design that minimizes aerodynamic losses. You will be working in collaboration with the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), DRDO. The research results would be used for the design of advanced combat aircraft engine turbines.

                  Required Qualifications: The prospective candidate should have an M.E/M.Tech from a tier 1 or tier 2 institution in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with a strong interest in aerospace propulsion and expertise and familiarity with CFD. Candidates with BTech degree having strong credentials will also be considered.

                  The JRF will be encouraged to register for a Ph.D. degree in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department of Ecole Centrale School of Engineering, Mahindra University, Hyderabad.

                  Salary: The monthly salary is going to be Rs. 43,600 p.m. (Rs.37,000 + 18% HRA) according to the DST standards, without any deductions. However, if the candidate resides on campus, HRA will not be paid and deductions will be made towards the mess fees.
