About Conference
The Indo-US Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science – Chapter 2 will take place at Mahindra University in association with University of Florida on 10th December, 2023. There are International and National speakers of academic excellence and repute who will share their thoughts. This workshop will provide a platform to faculty and researchers to interact with the experts from the field of computing, cybersecurity, Machine learning and other related areas of computer science. Prof. Sartaj Sahni, distinguished professor from University of Florida will be co-chairing the workshop.

Arif I Sarwat
Eminent Scholar Chaired Professor and Director of FPL-FIU Solar Facility and Energy, Power & Sustainability (EPS)
Title of the Talk : Unleashing the Power of Artificial Intelligence-Based Microgrid: Mathematical Modeling to Physical Infrastructure
Bio : Dr. Arif Sarwat has been in the industry (Siemens) and academia for more than 20 years. He is an Eminent Scholar Chaired Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the Director of the FPL-FIU Solar Research Facility and Energy Power Sustainability(EPS) group at FIU. He is also the Principal Investigator for the state-of-the-art grid-connected 3MW/9MWh AI-based Renewable (AIR) Microgrid long-term project funded by FPL. His research interests include smart grids, electric vehicles, high penetration renewable systems, storage, and battery management systems, grid resiliency, large-scale data analysis, artificial intelligence, advanced metering infrastructure, smart city infrastructure, and cybersecurity.

Sanguthevar Rajasekaran
Director, School of Computing,Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor, and Pratt & Whitney Chair Professor of CSE University of Connecticut, Storrs
Title of the Talk : Some Crucial Challenges in ML and Data Science
Bio : Sanguthevar Rajasekaran received his M.E. degree in Automation from the Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore) in 1983, and his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Harvard University in 1988. Currently he is the Director of the School of Computing, Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor, and Pratt & Whitney Chair Professor of CSE at the University of Connecticut. Before joining UConn, he has served as a faculty member in the CISE Department of the University of Florida and in the CIS Department of the University of Pennsylvania. During 2000-2002 he was the Chief Scientist for Arcot Systems. His research interests include Big Data, AI and Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, Algorithms, Data Mining, Randomized Computing, and HPC.
Devika Madalli
Professor of the Documentation Research and Training Centre, Indian Statistical Institute and Adjunct faculty, DISI, University of Trento, Italy.
Title of the Talk : DMP Frame for Research Data Management
Dr.Madalli is a member of the Karnataka Evaluation Authority(KEA). Dr.Madalli has extensive experience in capacity building, training on e-learning, MOOCs (moodle) and digital repositories. Dr. Madalli is a member of the Technical Advisory Board of Research Data Alliance. She is a member of the governance board of DRYAD. Dr.Madalli serves as a consultant to UNESCO, UNFAO, OECD, Commonwealth of Learning and European Commission.

Bio : Dr. S.S. Iyengar is currently the Distinguished University Professor, Founding Director of the Discovery Lab and Director of the US Army-funded Center of Excellence in Digital Forensics at Florida International University, Miami. He is also the Distinguished Chaired Professor at National Forensics Sciences University, Gandhinagar, India. He was awarded the 2023 Karnataka Rajyotava Award (Karnataka State’s 2nd Highest Civilian Award) on November 1st, 2023. He has been involved with research and education in high-performance intelligent systems, Data Science and Machine Learning Algorithms, Sensor Fusion, Data Mining, and Intelligent Systems.

Navy Senior Scientist (ST) for Advanced Computing Concepts, and the Chief Scientist for Computation, Center for Computational Sciences, Navy Research Lab
Title of the Talk : A Framework of Harnessing Context and Coherence with Statistically Driven Machine Learning Systems.
Bio : Guna Seetharaman is the Navy Senior Scientist (ST) for Advanced Computing Concepts, and the Chief Scientist for Computation, Center for Computational Sciences, Navy Research Lab. He joined NRL in June 2015. He also served as a senior scientific advisor (ST) for the C5ISR-EW Directorate of OUSD RD&E, during 2017-2020. He worked as Principal Engineer at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Information Directorate, where he led research and development in Video Exploitation, Wide Area Motion Imagery (WAMI), High Performance Computing for C4ISR at the edge (CETE), Computing Architectures and Cyber Security. Kannappan Palaniappan (Online)

Title of the Talk : Biomedical image analysis using ensemble classifier methods
Bio : Kannappan Palaniappan is a Curators’ Distinguished Professor in electrical engineering and computer science. He has received several notable awards, including the National Academies Jefferson Science Fellowship (first in Missouri), the NASA Public Service Medal for pioneering contributions to (Big Data) scientific visualization of petabyte-sized archives, the Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship, the Boeing Welliver Summer Faculty Fellowship, and MU’s William T. Kemper Fellowship for Teaching Excellence. At NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, he co-founded the Visualization and Analysis Lab that has produced a number of spectacular Digital Earth visualizations used by search engines (BlueMarble), museums, magazines and broadcast television.

He is also participated in the Development of TechDome for Central Vista Project, chaired by Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India. Deepak Khazanchi
Distinguished Chair of IS&T and Executive Director CMIT+Attic
Title of the talk : Applied AI in Structural Health Monitoring
Bio : Dr. Deepak Khazanchi is Mutual of Omaha Distinguished Chair of IS&T and Professor of Information Systems and Quantitative Analysis in the College of Information Science & Technology (IS&T), University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). Between 2002 and 2021, he served the College of IS&T as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Community Engagement and Internationalization Officer, and as the Chair of the Department of Information Systems & Quantitative Analysis. He has affiliate faculty appointments in UNO’s International Studies & Programs and the Leonard and Shirley Goldstein Center for Human Rights (GCHR). Dr. Khazanchi has served as a visiting/adjunct professor with the Center for Integrated Emergency Management (CIEM) at the University of Agder (Kristiansand, Norway), University of International Business & Economics (Beijing, China), and Management Center Innsbruck (Innsbruck, Austria).
