B.Tech in
Electrical Engineering and E-Mobility

Overview

This new B.Tech program on Electrical Engineering & E-mobility will train students to contribute towards:

  • Smart cities with good urban planning consisting of a smart grid,
  • A high functioning public transportation system,
  • Environmental initiatives and technology-based infrastructure for information collection and dissemination Combating global warming and climate change through a three-pronged approach of:
    • promoting renewables for electricity generation,
    • using electric mobility for transportation needs and
    • employing energy conservation measures wherever electricity is being utilized

The Government of India wishes to do away with petrol and diesel for transportation to mitigate pollution; the number of EVs in India has grown from 1.6 L in 2019-20 to 2.8 M in Aug 2023

Electrical-Engineering-and-E-Mobility

This B.Tech program in electrical engineering and electric mobility offers a broad-based and practical-oriented curriculum in electrical engineering, simultaneously honing the skill sets of the students in the specialized field of electric mobility. The program will offer a large number of laboratory and project courses for the students to have hands-on experience on building circuits and systems pertaining to power converters, drives and EVs. The first four semesters focus on laying the foundation through basic science courses and fundamental courses in electrical engineering including Signals and systems, Digital and analogue electronic circuits, Microcomputers and Electrical machines. Subsequently, there are rigorous courses pertaining to electric mobility such as Power electronics, Electric drives, Smart grid & energy storage systems and Battery management systems. Further, there are also four elective courses and projects for the students to explore more into the EV domain.
