Dr. Shahid Bashir is an Assistant Professor of Economics, a Gold Medalist, and a four-time UGC-NET qualifier who holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Economics and was awarded the Maulana Azad National Fellowship by the UGC. He teaches Econometrics, Microeconomics, and Managerial Economics and works extensively with Stata, EViews, R, and Python. His research expertise lies in macroeconomics, public finance, environmental economics, and health economics.

Shahid Bashir
Assistant Professor
Dr. Shahid Bashir is an Assistant Professor of Economics in the School of Management at Mahindra University, Hyderabad. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the Central University of Kashmir in 2021, where his doctoral research investigated the Twin Deficit Hypothesis for India. He also holds an M.Phil. and a Gold Medal–winning Master’s degree in Economics from the same university. He has qualified for the UGC-NET four consecutive times and was awarded the Maulana Azad National Fellowship by the University Grants Commission.
Over the past five years of teaching, he has built a strong teaching record. Before joining Mahindra University, he taught at Christ University, and at both universities, he has earned a reputation for engaging application-driven teaching of Econometrics, Microeconomics, and Managerial Economics. This reflects in his consistently excellent student feedback. His scholarship pairs rigorous quantitative methods with questions that matter for the Indian economy, and he has publications in ABDC-ranked and Scopus-indexed journals, edited volumes, and conference proceedings.
He is a life member of The Indian Econometric Society (TIES), Indian Society for the History of Economic Thought (ISHET), Indian Economics and Allied Sciences Association (IEASA), and a member of the World Economics Association (UK). Beyond research and teaching, he remains an active reviewer for several reputed international journals.
