Ph.D. position (JRF/SRF) Department of Physics
Mahindra University is looking for a Doctoral Student under the Prime Minister’s Early Career Research Grant (PM ECRG) – ANRF. Highly motivated candidates with a strong background in condensed matter physics are encouraged to apply. Interested candidates should email a detailed CV including academic qualifications, experience, and contact information to banasree.sadhukhan@mahindrauniversity.edu.in with the subject line: “Application for PhD Position – PM ECRG Project on Altermagnets”.
Project titled: “Emerging magneto-transport and thermoelectric responses in altermagnets for novel application of energy harvesting.”
Fellowship details:
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): ₹37,000/month + 30% HRA = ₹48,100 (for 2 years)
Senior Research Fellowship (SRF): ₹42,000/month + 30% HRA = ₹54,600 (for 1 year)
Project overview: This project aims to explore the unconventional magneto-transport and thermoelectric behaviour in a novel class of quantum materials called altermagnets, which combine symmetry-protected spin-polarized transport with zero net magnetization. Through theoretical modelling, numerical simulations, and data analysis, the project seeks to uncover mechanisms enabling efficient energy harvesting and spin-caloritronic functionalities. The outcomes could contribute significantly to the design of next-generation energy-efficient devices and green technologies.
