The outreach club members of Mahindra University carried out an ‘MU Cleanliness Drive’ competition on 6th April 2022. The event was organized to raise awareness about the need to save soil, be more conscious, and help revive the topsoil and its biodiversity.

The students were motivated and inspired by the Conscious Planet – Save the Soil Movement, a global movement launched by Sadhguru to save soil from extinction and bring the necessary policies to address humanity’s catastrophic issue.

Students gathered in groups of 5 people and collected trash from various locations around the campus of 120 acres. A total of 38 teams collected 900 kgs of garbage for proper disposal. The Winning Team, Team No 36 MemeTeam, won by picking up 66 kgs of trash.

For millennia, life on earth has been sustained by a thin layer of fertile soil on the Earth’s Crust. Unfortunately, the topsoil, which is home to trillions of organisms, is losing its biodiversity. But, according to experts, we are on a cusp: If we act now, we can reverse the soil condition in the next 15 – 20 years.
